This week I have been in Chicago for the annual UPAA Symposium. So far it has been a good and informative week. Here are a few photos of Downtown Chicago from Tuesday.

My Introduction to Winter in Wyoming

Last night and today I got my first taste of winter in Wyoming, although from what I hear this was nothing. The thermometer on my back porch this morning read 2 degrees. I heard the official low was 6 which set a record low for this date. Here are a few shots of the snow!

New Football Season

For the first time I was on the sidelines of a college football game, and Auburn was not on the field (Auburn was not even in the time zone). This past Saturday marked the begining of a new football season, and for me it marked the begining of covering a new team in a new conference, and a new stadium.

There were a few differences between Wyoming and Auburn football. The biggest difference for me was the weather. On the first weekend in September, here in Wyoming it was in the 60s with low humidity during the game, however in Auburn it was in the 90s with high humidity. Another difference that stands out is the stadium. AU's Jordan-Hare Stadium holds over 87,000, where as UW's War Memorial Stadium holds 32,580. Another difference is that SEC football has a faster pace than Mountain West, but then again SEC football has a faster pace than any other conference. Once I walked on the field, it was time for football, and in the end it really was not that different in covering the game. You still covered the action, the fans, the band, cheerleaders, mascot, traditions, etc.

My first Wyoming game was great! The Cowboys won 38-7, and you can see the mountains from the stadium! (Those photos will come later in the season)

I will admit though that I did miss one thing from Auburn football...the pregame flight of the Eagle.

Last night I went up to Vedauwoo after work. It is about 15 miles outside of town and has very unique terrain. Vedauwoo is part of the Medicine Bow National Forest.

On Monday I started a new job with the Univeristy of Wyoming. My last day at Auburn was on Monday the 7th, we loaded the moving truck on Tuesday the 8th and headed west. After driving almost 1600 miles we arrived in Laramie on Thursday night the 10th.

The Bellagio

This year's annual UPAA symposium was held in Utah a couple of weeks ago. We flew into Las Vegas on Sunday and drove to Provo the next day. Here are a couple of shots from the Bellagio Fountain show that night. For you movie buffs, the Bellagio is featured in Ocean's Eleven, and the fountain show can be seen at the end of the movie.

While on vacation last week in Jackson Hole we spent one day snowmobiling in the Targhee National Forest. It was a very scenic day and provided several photo opportunities. Here are two shots of Mesa Falls. Both were shot with my panoramic camera and then scanned. I will be adding more photos from the trip in the coming days.

"The 'Ole Ball Coach"

Steve Spurrier, "The 'Ole Ball Coach," returned to college football this year as coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks. When Spurrier last visited the Plains, the goalposts came down after Auburn upset the then #1 Florida Gators. Well, this time the goalposts did not come down, but Auburn came out with another win (see previous post). There were no visor tosses during this game beacuse he did not wear one, but here are some photos of Coach Spurrier anyway.

AU 48 - South Carolina 7

Auburn came out swinging against South Carolina and never looked back winning 48-7. Stayed tuned in the next couple of days I will do a post with all Spurrier photos.
On another note, since there are only two more AU home games (Oct. 29 and Nov 19), I will be sharing photos from other projects I have been working on both on campus and off. War Eagle!

I set up this Blog months ago and I am now finally getting around to my frst post. My goal here is to share weekly photos with you. Some photos will be work I have done for the University while others will be things I have shot on the side, and I am sure there will be one or two of our dog, Thach (featured in the photo above).
